Book Review: The Names of God (El Elyon)
Hello everyone, welcome to our monthly book review for, The Names of God, by Marilyn Hickey.
Our review for November is the chapter for the name El Elyon.
This month, the podcast has more detail than the blog because I recorded the podcast live (without detailed written blog notes). I did this as the chapter had such an impact on me, I wanted to just record it, in my state of joy, instead of writing notes first.
I really needed to hear this chapter. It really spoke into my life. God’s timing is perfect!
I like how Marilyn highlights how God supplies all our needs with the different names He has. She takes references from Isaiah 14:13-15 when Satan states his aim and God’s reply. I love how there is focus on how nothing can contend with God’s authority. God is above every circumstance.
Marilyn mentions the 4 Ps, which I found to be very helpful: Purpose, prayer, perception and power. I will no doubt be returning to this concept, to study in more detail.
This chapter is packed with scripture and Marilyn leads us to some Psalms that have focus on the Most High. The Book of Daniel is also used as an example of how God’s authority reigns.
Psalm 18:13-17, Psalm 21:7, Psalm 57:2, Psalm 82:6 and Psalm 91:1-9.
Jesus’ authority, given by the Father, is referenced (Philippians 2:5-9) and Marilyn speaks about what position we will have in heaven.
There is so much more. This chapter is a must to listen to. May you also be blessed by it.
Our next book review will be at the end of December. Until then - peace be with you.
