Book Review: The Names of God by Marilyn Hickey (Jehovah Rohi)

Hello everyone, welcome to our monthly book review for, The Names of God, by Marilyn Hickey.

Our review for September is the chapter for the name Jehovah Rohi- The Lord, my shepherd.

A description stood out for me in this chapter - the word for mercy, described as, “to climb into someone’s skin and look out of their eyes, hear out of their ears, and feel what he feels."

This is part of the role Jesus has as our shepherd.  It is all too easy to forget some of the aspects of this role.

I am also reminded of how Jesus is our advocate before God. What better advocate than someone that understands everything you have gone through, because they see your life in your skin?  Reflecting on this gives me a deeper appreciation of what Jesus does for me (and you).

The shepherd has a huge responsibility - lives are at stake, souls are at stake. Marilyn brings up good and false shepherds and the ultimate shepherd - Jesus Christ.

Matthew 28:20, says that Jesus will be with us until the end of this age.

This chapter is a wonderful reminder of all Jesus did, does and will do for us, as our Shepherd - our Good Shepherd.

I really look forward to His return.

Our next book review will be at the end of October.  Until then - peace be with you.
