Review: God is at Work (Season 1 Episode 5)

If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with the knowledge that Jesus is the author and finisher of your faith.

This week’s review is for the docu-series God is at Work (Season 1, Episode 5: Refugees and Orphans)

Description

See how a businessman responds to the refugee crisis, learn from a Burmese refugee about being an alien and stranger with no citizenship on this earth, a Haitian orphan experiences God’s provision, and an earthquake brings a family together.

Where is God working? This inspirational series takes you across the world to discover the answer. Each episode focuses on different themes and follows how God is using individuals to do His work. From the United States to across the globe, God is everywhere and his Spirit is moving. Be inspired and grow your faith with this heart-warming docu-series.

Once again, this series brings some powerful testimonies about the love and faithfulness of our Heavenly Father. The Burmese refugees really caught my attention, as it reminded me of how we were considered foreigners to God’s kingdom, before Jesus Christ sacrificed His life on the cross, to reconcile our relationship with God.

Ephesians 2:11-13. Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— 12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Although this man and his family lived in awful conditions, their faith in God kept them focused on Christ.

The other testimony about the Haitian orphan also had an impact on me, as the adoptive parents had to go through a long process and a lot of waiting in order to be reunited with the son they had adopted. It reminds me how crucial it is to rely on the Lord, in all circumstances, especially when we are waiting for an answer about something that weighs heavy on our heart. I am reminded of some verses from Psalm 27: 13-14

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

14

Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!

There are some other powerful stories in this episode. Which one will have an impact on you?
