Review: The White Candle
If you are reading this on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with joy. Nehemiah 10:8 says, the joy of the Lord is your strength.
This week’s review is for a short film called, The White Candle.
Description
A financially struggling timeshare representative is visited by a unique man who says, “God knows that you’re stressed, but he wants you to know you’re going to be taken care of. He tells her to buy a white prayer candle, and pray to God for help. Sharon thinks this man is crazy… but it couldn’t hurt to try.
I don’t know why I looked at some of the comments in YouTube for this film - I don’t normally do that with anything I choose to watch. For some reason though, for this film, I did look at a few comments, after watching the film a few times. It would be easy to get caught up in the “God is not restricted to candles” debate. A few points: 1) This film is based on a true story, so it is a witness account 2) The Bible is full of examples of people being asked to do things, in faith. This film is about a witness account regarding a call from God to have a relationship with Him - to trust Him and draw closer to Him. The candle was just the medium God chose.
During a very difficult time in my life, I used to go to a local church and light a candle, pray, and put my prayer request in a sealed box, for others to pray over. I did that every Tuesday and it built my faith and drew me closer to God. I left certain that God had heard my prayer and would act according to His will.
This film lasts less than fifteen minutes, yet it is a powerful message that the Bible reflects - we are called to live by faith. Hebrews 10:38, Galatians 3:11 and Habakkuk 2:4.
I watched, The White Candle, on the Christian Movies YouTube channel.
Thank you for reading this review. Until next time - peace be with you.
