If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with a renewed and deeper loyalty to the principles of our Heavenly Father.

This week’s review is for the six-part series - The Incredible Journey - Daniel, hosted by Gary Kent.  These episodes are so detailed, that I will be bring you a review for one episode at a time.

Description

Episode 1 - The Captive

By a remarkable turn of events, Daniel the hostage became Daniel the Prime Minister of Babylon and the King's most trusted adviser. In fact, he prospered under the reign of four kings. How did he do it? How did he survive 70 years of captivity? His secret of inner spiritual strength will provide us with the key to surviving the challenges of life and, more importantly, the end-time.

This series popped up, as my Bible study on Daniel, via bibelzoom.no, a Norwegian-based ministry, came to an end.  I can’t seem to get enough of Daniel these days, so I was very happy when this six-part series was brought to my attention. Praise the LORD!

What I appreciate the most about these series is the constant comparison of Daniel to our lives and how we can also be faithful to God, during current trying times and harder times to come.

The Bible doesn’t say why Daniel did not return to Jerusalem after the 70 years were finished, but it does tell us how Daniel prospered during the reign of secular kings without compromising his faith.  This is such an important point, because of course, it would have been easy for Daniel to conform to the Babylonian culture - but what would the cost have been?

The host, Gary Kent, presents us with real scenarios of how God’s people are mocked during stressful times and how we have to stand firm in our faith, to not cave in.  There are many examples of this in the Bible, outside of the Book of Daniel.  One that comes immediately to mind is Job, who was mocked by people close to him even, when everything in his life was going wrong.

Speaking of things going wrong.  This episode also includes a powerful testimony about a man who worked for a mainstream news channel in the US, that was taken hostage, and as a last resort, called upon God.

Gary Kent makes a simple, but profound statement - The Book of Daniel shows us how to live in the end-time of this earth.  Amen.

Gary Kent has many other reflections, based on biblical knowledge, that I found very encouraging.  Even if you are aware of the information he is relaying, the way it is relayed is refreshing, inspiring and encouraging.

I really liked how he pointed out Satan’s strategy of slowly chipping away at a Christian’s faith, by making them not choose God for the smaller matters - which ends in a slow fade away from their faith.  This is so true and relevant for every Christian and it makes me think of my daily Bible verse for today from Ephesians 6:16-18:

16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Amen! Thank you Lord for Your Word.  We need to take up and put on the armour of God every single day, because Satan never takes a holiday, never takes time off.

Gary Kent has some sombering and truthful statements about who will be successful in the end-time of this age.  This episode ends with a wonderful prayer, which I prayed right alongside Gary Kent.

Episode 1 - The Captive, is about Daniel, but it’s also about every Christian who wants to be loyal to the God of heaven and earth - since we belong to the Kingdom of God, not this secular world, which has been stained by Satan, who is called the prince of this world, in the Bible.

The first episode is based on the first chapter in Daniel, so be sure to read that chapter alongside the video.

I am looking forward to bringing you a review of Episode 2.

Thank you for reading this review.  Until next time, peace be with you.
