If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with a deeper faith that enables you to thrive in a secular world and take a stand in commitment to the God of Israel, no matter what the circumstances are.
This week’s review is for the six-part series - The Incredible Journey - Daniel, hosted by Gary Kent. These episodes are so detailed, that I will bring you a review for one episode at a time.
Description
Episode 3 - Faith in the Flames
Two thousand six hundred years ago, a remarkable scene played out on the plains of Dura right near ancient Babylon. An enormous golden statue of the most powerful King on the planet had been set up, and everyone was ordered to bow down to it and show their allegiance. Three young men refused. Their decision placed their lives in imminent danger.
The visual and audio for this episode did not match the episode title, Faith in the Flames. However, the English subtitles are correct. I watched it anyway. I turned off the audio and focused on the subtitles. I have sent a message to RedeemTV, so hopefully the problem will be corrected very soon.
The message related in this episode, based on chapter three of the Book of Daniel, is powerful and relevant to every person, because if it hasn’t already been done, at some point, people need to make a decision about whether they stand with God or not.
Daniel 3:4-6 are read, which describes how King Nebuchadnezzar commanded allegiance and worship, something the three friends of Daniel refused to do. Daniel’s three friends, answer the king, in an inspiring commitment to God. Their answer is recorded in Daniel 3:16-18, which is used as the foundation for episode three.
Gary Kent asks crucial reflective questions and makes biblical statements about faith, our loyalty to the God of the universe and where our commitment and focus should stand, even in the most dire of circumstances.
Gary brings up one excellent point after another, based on the account of Daniel’s friends, who chose death in order to remain faithful to the God of Israel. Their choice is recorded in Daniel 3:16-18: 16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
You can read in Daniel chapter three, how these young men were saved from a fiery death - a testament that anything is possible with God.
Gary Kent does an excellent job of showing how the Book of Daniel relates to our lives today and future events, with the sense of urgency we need to hear, as our eternal lives depend on where we chose to stand during our days here on earth.
We are also told a powerful testimony about a Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who by God’s grace, preached the gospel, under conditions of torture in prison, during World War II. Richard was in prison for his faith. There is a film based on the book he wrote, Tortured for Christ, that I plan to review in the near future, God willing.
The third episode of the Incredible Journey is all about the power of faith and its crucial role in our relationship with God, through Jesus Christ.
The message this episode has is crucial. You don’t need to wait until the visual and audio match the subtitles. I pray that you will be blessed, as I have been.
I am looking forward to bringing you a review of Episode 4.
Thank you for reading this review. Until next time, peace be with you.
