What You Aren't Being Told About Astronomy: Volume 2
Hi everyone, if you reading this on the Sabbath, then I’d like to wish you a wonderful prayed-filled Sabbath.
True to the Word is continuing with our science thread for our program reviews. It truly is a joy to watch them to learn about God’s creation and worship Him, for His works and character. So please join me, as I review the second part of a three part series called, Creation Astronomy, by Spike Psarris. If you have seen the twelve part series, The Heavens Declare, then you will recognize Spike, as he was one of the guest speakers in that series. In the Creation Astronomy series, Spike Psarris looks at the same topic from a different angle. Instead of presenting what secular scientists want us to believe, Spike presents what they are not telling us and why.
This second episode is called: What You Aren’t Being Told About Astronomy: Volume 2: Our Created Stars and Galaxies.
In his introduction, Spike reviews scripture concerning the sun, moon and stars (Genesis 1:16-19) and gives a short overview of Volume 1 and what secular scientists say about the origin of the universe.
He goes deeper into the following:
How the solar system is consistent with the Bible
How the universe declares the glory of its Creator
Stars - What they are and the variety
Galaxies - What they are made of and the estimated amount in the universe
Our galaxy - the Milky Way
Spike then reviews and adds depth to the discussion of how the secular model can’t explain how stars are created and how planets formed. Spike uses a very effective example involving a can of air and explains how stars cannot be created based on the secular gas cloud model. He also mentions other things that prevent stars from forming from gas clouds. Spike does a thorough job of dismantling all of the arguments secular scientists have created for star and galaxy formation and gives solid reasons why they cannot work.
On a side note: Spike mentioned the chicken and the egg riddle, at some point, as in, which came first, the chicken or the egg. This is a well known riddle and the simple explanation can be found in the Bible. Genesis 1:20-23 describes that winged fowls were made during the fifth day of creation. So, God made the chicken first - there is no chicken and the egg riddle.
Spike goes on to address the claim by secular scientists that star formation is connected to dark matter. He makes excellent points about how dark energy and dark matter have been introduced by secular science and the motivation behind it.
He addresses the huge problem of schools teaching the secular model, that relies on concepts that don’t exist.
I like how Spike provides plenty of examples from secular journals that essentially confirm that the secular gas cloud model theory, does not confirm what is observed.
In addition to this, Spike provides plenty of information about how the advancement of technology, is a huge challenge for the secular model as it shows the opposite to what secular scientists have predicted.
I think it is wonderful how Psarris says: We should not accept the Bible because science supports it, we should accept it because it is the word of God. He goes on to comment how God gives us the grace to see what His word describes. Amen!
Spike reviews what scripture says in Genesis 1:14 and talks about the following:
How mankind has used the moon and sun for signs and seasons
How our sun is unique in design for sustainability of life on earth
How our sun is not an average star
How the sun’s rotation axis provides a huge problem for the secular model
How the assumptions made by secular scientists fail to match up with research and what is observed
Spike talks about the glory of the Creator, referencing Psalms 19 and Jeremiah and shares fascinating, incomprehensible facts that displays the power of our Creator.
I found the illustration of the size of stars from our star, the sun, to the largest star known at this time, very interesting and of course, it was impossible to comprehend.
I also really liked how Spike illustrates the size of the cosmos through the metaphor of a clock. Through this analogy, he very effectively shows the distance to the planets in our solar system, our nearest star, and the nearest galaxy - incomprehensible distances.
I like how he revisits Genesis 1:14 - and talks of how the making of stars was at the end of the sentence. As if it were a, by the way, I made all the stars and when you think of how many stars are out there - it’s simple incredible. We have an incredible Creator and Father.
This episode is jam packed with biblical and scientific facts that amount to one conclusion, as Spike put it: The secular model of the origin of the universe is a scientific and spiritual failure.
Again, Spike turns to scripture, referencing
Psalm 8
John 3:16-17
John 1: Where Jesus is referenced as the Creator, together with God the Father, which leads Spike to speak of Jesus’ role in the plan of salvation for mankind.
This is a good reminder that we are in a spiritual battle - the Bible has a complete account of it. This battle affects our lives in every way and although we don’t see it (thank God), behind the scenes, the closer we come to God, through His word, the more we are able to distinguish lies from truth.
Jesus said, “Sanctify them through Your truth. Your Word is truth.” John 17:17.
Spike illustrates what Jesus said, by answering allegations secular scientists have made, with truth from the Bible - a very powerful ending to this episode!
Spike made an impression on me as a guest in The Heavens Declare series and his commitment to honour God is shown again, in this series, as he guides us through what some would like us to think is a subject way over our intellect. But Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
We will be reviewing the last part of the series - volume three, next Sabbath.
Thank you for reading this review. Until next time - peace be with you.
