Hello everyone, if you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with the will to ask God for His grace to do courageous acts, according to His will.
This week’s review is for the Bible Collection film, Esther.
Esther, a courageous and beautiful young woman, who enchants the King of the Persians and becomes his Queen. Even though she carries a secret that threatens her very life, Esther’s steadfast courage and devotion enables her to save the kingdom.
This film is based on an Old Testament Book called, The Book of Esther, that is a powerful reminder of the courage, resources and protection the Lord gives us, when we call upon Him. Chapter 4, verse 14, is a powerful and consistent reminder that we are called to serve God in this fallen world. We must pray to find out if we have been brought into a situation, place, etc. as part of a solution, according to God’s will.
Chapter 14, verse 4 (Esther’s cousin’s request)
For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
Chapter 14, verse 16 (Esther’s response to her cousin)
Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.
Esther’s response, after three days of fasting, clearly shows that she is confident in the Lord, and has been given the grace to do His will.
I felt compelled to read, The Book of Esther once again, after I watched the film. The account is truly inspiring. The film does not follow the biblical account word for word, but I don’t think it compromised the account.
