If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you joy in knowing that the Lord is with you. Nehemiah 8:10 says, Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength
This week’s review is for the episode of 7th Street Theater called, The Commercial.
Description
7th Street Theater is a half hour dramatic series about five Christian actors who perform a weekly stage show for their community.
The theater is owned by Mr. Wheeler, who purchased it for the purpose of providing entertainment with a Christian message that people could enjoy in a theatrical setting. Rudy Thompson is the producer and director for the theater while Joanna is the office manager.
The cast performs shows every weekend, and during the week. After they have selected a specific theme to do for that particular weekend show, they write and act out scenes in trying to convey their message.
My Review
I’m doing something I don’t usually do with a review - I am skipping to the end. The end of the episode, The Commercial, makes me want to cry. It’s a wonderful example of how we should stand up for our faith in Jesus. The theme of this episode is standing up for Jesus. Depending on the situation, standing up for Jesus can become quite intense. But Jesus tells us in Matthew 10:33 - But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.
The commercial is about one of the cast members having an audition for a commercial, which pays a lot of money and exposes her acting talent on a regional level - a very lucrative opportunity.
The commercial shows a realistic scenario. We are often presented with options that could have us chasing money, fame, popularity, a promotion, prize or other things that draw us away from Jesus.
I really like the 7th Street Theater series, as it has really good examples of the joys and challenges of the Christian life, with the Bible as their main focus. There are three seasons. I wish they would return to making more.
The series is available for rental or purchase on www.christianmovies.com, however, you can watch it for free on You Tube, which is where I watched, The Commercial.
Thank you for reading this review. Until next time - peace be with you.
