If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with the good news that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:16-17

This week’s review is for the documentary,, Glory to God Alone: The Life of Johann Sebastian Bach

Description

In this video journey we are accompanied by Bach authorities including classical guitarist Christopher Parkening. They guide us through the development, personal crises, challenges, remarkable work output, and the compelling inner motivation of Bach and show why it was so important to the composer that his gifts be used for the glory of God alone.

Bach composed over 1100 pieces of music in his lifetime. With man, it seems impossible -but with God, everything is possible.

This video shows how God works in us, for His glory and how our will plays an important role in that. Bach used his will to praise the Lord with the talent given to him. Bach lived his statement of, glory to God alone. He is recognized as the greatest composer that ever lived and this stands to reason, when he dedicated his talent to the glory of God.

I had some of Bach’s music in my head before I knew who he was. My primary school used to play classical music as an introduction to morning assembly. The music was put on before we entered and played until our Head Master was ready to begin speaking. So I was exposed to Bach as well as other composers at an early age. However, I knew very little about Bach and this video gave me a lot of information about all aspects of his life. Through heartache and hardship, God did extraordinary things with Bach’s life and continues to use his music to influence the world, for His glory. Amen!

Watching this video has inspired me to look into adding Bach’s music to Sabbath Radio - the internet radio station run by Renewed Faith Media. All in God’s timing.

I watched, Glory to God Alone: The Life of J.S. Bach, on Vision Video’s Youtube channel.

Thank you for reading this review. Until next time - peace be with you.
