Hello everyone, if you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with faith in Jesus Christ.

This week’s review is for the series, Jesus, the Game Changer This episode is called, Jesus.

Jesus, the Game Changer is a 10 part documentary series (with 4 bonus episodes) on how the life and teaching of Jesus changed the world and why it matters. The presenter, travels to the US, UK, Australia, Singapore and India interviewing over 30 authors, speakers and modern-day game changers. This series covers topics like equality, forgiveness, leadership, women and children, care and more.

I enjoyed the last series, Towards Belief, so much that I looked up the ministry, Olive Tree Media, and subscribed to their content channel. That’s where I found this 10 part series, Jesus, the Game Changer.

The first episode focuses on evidence that Jesus existed and while I can appreciate that, in a limited context, I am reminded of many verses in the Bible that call upon us to believe through faith. I am currently re-reading the letter to the Romans and this verse comes to mind, from Romans 1:19-20

For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Other verses that come to mind are Psalm 19:1-2

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. 2 Day to day pours out speech and night to night reveals knowledge.

Hebrews chapter 11 speaks extensively about faith, giving many examples of people that walked in faith. This chapter tells us how important God considers our faith in Him. This faith is not blind, because as scripture says, God has given us creation and His Word (the Bible) as evidence of the existence of both Him and Jesus Christ.

So with that being said, the episode also contains many testimonies of people who were non-believers that were brought to faith, not by the proof of man, but by experiences with God’s word and interactions with God.

Speaking of interactions with God. Some years ago, I was supposed to make prayer cards to hand out at a local business fair. I needed to access some old files I knew I had, but I couldn’t find them and this stressed me out as the deadline for making these prayer cards was drawing near. One morning, I suddenly woke up at 4am and got the strong inclination to get my laptop and look for those old files once more. When I couldn’t find them, I prayed in distress. Then something absolutely amazing happened! On my laptop, I saw my mouse moving, and folders were being opened. My hands were by my side, so it obviously wasn’t me! In amazement, I watched as each folder was opened until the collection of files that I had been looking for, were visible. I remember sobbing, a lot, partly due to thanks, but more due to the miracle that I had just witnessed. God has interacted with me in many ways before and after this incident, but not in this manner. Words fail to adequately describe that experience!

One of the contributors in this episode mentioned a verse in scripture that meant a lot to her. It’s from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 1, verses 1-4.

Many people have set out to write accounts about the events that have been fulfilled among us. 2 They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples. 3 Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write an accurate account for you, most honorable Theophilus, 4 so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.

Luke goes on to give an accurate account of the life of Jesus Christ, As scripture is as relevant today, as it was many years ago, we too can have faith in the account Luke gave of Jesus of Nazareth - who Jesus is, why He came and how He has shaped the history and future of mankind.

Episode one of Jesus the Game Changer, was so engaging, I forgot to write notes, but thanks be to God, who gave me the wisdom of what I should say.
