Hello everyone, if you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with the assurance of God’s mercy, grace and love.

This week’s review is for the series, Jesus, the Game Changer This episode is called, Education and Health.

Jesus, the Game Changer is a 10 part documentary series (with 4 bonus episodes) on how the life and teaching of Jesus changed the world and why it matters. The presenter, travels to the US, UK, Australia, Singapore and India interviewing over 30 authors, speakers and modern-day game changers. This series covers topics like equality, forgiveness, leadership, women and children, care and more.

I enjoyed the last series, Towards Belief, so much that I looked up the ministry, Olive Tree Media, and subscribed to their content channel. That’s where I found this 10 part series, Jesus, the Game Changer.

Description

Social institutions, such as hospitals and universities, had their genesis in the Christian Church and were motivated by Jesus’ radical example of caring for those in need and teaching everyone, not just wealthy males.

This episode is packed with information about how the Bible got into the hands of the general public and what the catalyst was for formal education. I learned a lot about the Christian influence on formal education and hospitals. I was reminded of the educator, Maria Montessori, who was convinced that children had an inner motivation to learn, that came from the Creator of the universe.

There is wonderful connection between Jesus’ commission in Matthew 28:18-20 and learning.

I really like the comment about learning being a spiritual exercise, which is backed up by scripture. The Book of Proverbs is full of verses about where we need to get our knowledge from. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 also comes to mind: All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. Amen.
