Hello everyone, if you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a future in the kingdom of God.
This week’s review is for the series, Jesus, the Game Changer This episode is called, Leadership.
Jesus, the Game Changer is a 10 part documentary series (with 4 bonus episodes) on how the life and teaching of Jesus changed the world and why it matters. The presenter, travels to the US, UK, Australia, Singapore and India interviewing over 30 authors, speakers and modern-day game changers. This series covers topics like equality, forgiveness, leadership, women and children, care and more.
I enjoyed the last series, Towards Belief, so much that I looked up the ministry, Olive Tree Media, and subscribed to their content channel. That’s where I found this 10 part series, Jesus, the Game Changer.
Description
Despite being the most influential figure in human history, Jesus did not follow the conventional patterns of leadership of His time. He gathered only a small group of followers in His lifetime and died a humiliating death at the hands of the Roman authorities. His call for His followers to serve one another as servant leaders is one of the most powerful and enduring ideas from all of His example and teaching.
This is another powerful episode in this series, showing through world history and scripture, how humility is known to mankind, as a result of the teachings and character of Jesus Christ. It challenges us to question what kind of leader we are, in all aspects of out life, not just in the workplace.
Foot washing was mentioned, as an example of Jesus’ practice and requirement for us to do the same. A church I was a member of, does foot washing as a part of the communion service. Foot washing is both humbling and wonderful, because it is not only what you do, but what you think, while you are washing the feet of others.
I appreciated the discussions on servanthood, humility, peace and love -which all describe the character of God, the Father, shown in Jesus Christ. A powerful Bible verse is referenced. You can find it in Philippians 2:5-8.
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Jesus’ actions - how he treated his disciples, the poor and needy, the sick, widows, those who persecuted him - everything was done with humility, yet confidence in who He was.
This series is a sheer blessing. I hope you will also watch not only this episode, but the previous ones I have reviewed.
