If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath full of the knowledge of Jesus’ sacrifice for all mankind.

This week’s review is for the series, Life Explored, which is a seven part series. This episode is called, The Fulfilling God.

Description

An exposé of the little gods that promise us so much happiness, yet deliver so little. As it explores the Bible story (creation, fall, redemption, new creation), Life Explored shows how our deepest desires for happiness can only be satisfied in one person, Jesus Christ. The best gift God can give us is himself.

This is the fifth episode in this series and the short film was heart-breaking. It initially reminded me of the Book of Hosea and what Hosea was commanded to do, by God, in order to demonstrate to the children of Israel how unfaithful they were being to God. Ultimately, what Hosea did would be demonstrated on a far greater scale, by Jesus Christ, by His sacrifice on the cross.

The presenter does an excellent job of describing the relationship between the Old Testament book, Jeremiah and the New Testament preaching of Jesus Christ. The presenter chooses an account from John 4, about a samaritan woman who meets Jesus by a well. You can find this account in John 4:1-30.

This episode points to the word of God, that illustrates to us how senseless and short-sighted it is to try and find fulfillment in anything, other than our Creator. The woman in the short film represents us, who try and find fulfillment in sources that don’t last, instead of looking to Jesus, who is an eternal source for all we need.

I am reminded of my daily Bible verse from yesterday: Philippians 4:19

And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus

And my daily Bible verse today says: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105.

This episode is raw and fitting, because truth be told, we need to understand the gravity of where we stand, without Jesus Christ.
