Hello everyone, if you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with the Holy Spirit, to live Colossian 3:23: Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, as for the Lord and not for men.
This week’s review is for the program: The Incredible Journey - The Moabite Stone and the Story of Ruth, presented by Gary Kent.
Description
Scholars have long debated the existence of the Moabites until the discovery of the Moabite stone in 1868. Frederick Klein, a travelling medical missionary, first made the discovery. It was then further investigated by a French archaeologist, Charles Clermont-Ganneau. The stele was inscribed with a message from King Mahesa of Moab, who is also mentioned in the biblical book of Kings. One of the most touching stories about a Moabite is found in the Book of Ruth. It’s a story of heartbreak, inspiration, and restitution.
I am a big fan of the Book of Ruth and therefore really appreciate the historical information this program presented. I found myself following along in my Bible when Gary Kent lined up scripture verses with historical events. In addition to this, Gary highlighted important aspects of Naomi’s life which encourages the viewer to reflect on their own actions in times of struggle.
Gary conveys a message that is realistic, empathetic and encouraging - as he points us to the One that can sustain us through the challenges this life will bring.
I watched, The Incredible Journey - The Moabite Stone and the Story of Ruth.
