Hello everyone, if you are reading to this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with deep faith in Christ Jesus our LORD.
This week’s review is for the series, Towards Belief. This episode is called Suffering.
Towards Belief is a 10 episode series addressing the top belief blockers of our time – the most frequently cited reasons that many have lost confidence in the Church and its message.
I enjoyed watching the first episode, Suffering, as it had a lot of honest feedback as to why people might doubt the love of God, due to all the suffering in the world. I like what one participant said, we don’t need to impose reasons on people - that’s their journey with God. Another participant, warned us against trying to reason for God. Yet another participant said that no one has crisp. water-tight answers and we don’t have to, in order to trust God.
I really appreciated the input from this episode and agreed with many things that were said, in particular one participant that said that Jesus is with us in our suffering, for He suffered for us. This reminds me of some verses from the Bible, Isaiah 53:4-6
Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
This episode doesn’t give a complete solution as to why God does not end suffering now and it doesn’t have to - since no one on there can directly speak for God. However, it does provide God-centered dialogue that encourages reflection and hopefully inspire viewers to turn to the Bible and prayer for a closer walk with God through their suffering.
