If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath that brings deeper faith in Jesus Christ.
This week’s review is for episode one of a 10-part series called, Worship Factor.
Description
Welcome to Worship Factor, a captivating TV series on worship in different cultures from around the globe: through insightful interviews and immersive storytelling, unveil the essence of worship and its diverse expressions across countries and cultures. Featuring worship music and thought-provoking dialogues on Christian faith and living, Worship Factor ignites a renewed passion and inspires believers worldwide to cultivate a deeply meaningful worship experience that glorifies God.
The first episode focuses on a worship leader in Finland, who describes his calling to lead worship. I found it very interesting that the worship leader, Sakari, said he never planned to be a worship leader, but felt that God was using this call to heal him while blessing others.
There are many important topics discussed in this episode. Here are some of them.
What is the point of worship songs?
Where is the Holy Spirit while we are singing/praying?
What does it mean to quench the Holy Spirit?
What is the meaning of the spiritual gifts given to believers?
What pitfalls can we make for ourselves in our daily lives as Christians?
Sakari gave some of the answers to these questions by referring to scripture and some answers were based more on his opinion or understanding.
Sakari was shown leading worship in a local church and it warmed my heart to see a child in the congregation with their hands raised, while singing. Psalm 134 speaks of raising our hands to praise the LORD. It says, “lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the LORD”.
What I liked about this episode was the relaxed setting and open conversation.
The presenter, Tommy Colin, referenced some scripture from the Bible at the end, which I think was taken from Ephesians 4:1-3 - verses that I am fully learning by heart this week. As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
Worship is at the centre of the Christian faith and so it’s going to be very interesting to experience how people across the world worship God.
