If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled the confidence that you can be renewed, through your faith in Jesus Christ.

This week’s review is for the series, Christianity Explored. Episode: Good News

Description

Christianity Explored is a ten-week course that introduces people to Christianity using the Gospel of Mark as its basis. Written by Rico Tice and Barry Cooper and originally run as a course at All Souls Church, Langham Place in London -- where it is still in use -- this widely-used course aims to introduce people to Jesus as they read the gospel of Mark -- who he is, why he came and what it means to follow him.

This looks like an exciting series and the first episode, Good News, is a wonderful start to this amazing message. Rico Tice grabs our attention with his observation of the beauty of the world around us, the heavens and us - all amazing creations. He asks a reflective question about creation and the logical conclusion of a creator.

Later on, he asks other reflective questions: What does Christianity have to do with me? How does the ancient book, the Bible, have a connection to our lives today?

Rico read the powerful first verse of Mark 1, The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and starts to unpack it for us.

Rico compares the gospel of Jesus Christ to an experiment that was done, where the results fell into several outcomes:

  • People didn’t take the message.

  • People took it, but didn’t read it.

  • People read it, but didn’t believe it.

Only a small amount of people took the message, read it and went back to do what the message told them to do. Those who didn’t, missed out on the free gift.

This episode reminds me of my daily Bible verse for today:

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16.

I pray that minds will be renewed as a result of this series. To God be the glory, in Jesus’ name.
