Short Film Review: Rahab

Hello everyone, if you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with the promise of Psalm 27:1

The Lord is my light and my salvation—

whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life—

of whom shall I be afraid?

This week’s review is for the short film, Rahab, based on the Old Testament book, Joshua, chapters one through six.

This is a beautiful dramatization of the Bible account of Rahab, who put all her faith in the God of Israel, saving two members of the children of Israel from being captured by the authorities in Jericho. This, in turn, led to Rahab and all her family being saved.

This short film inspired me to go back and read the first six chapters of the Book of Joshua. The account of how the walls of Jericho fell is an amazing one. What is also amazing is how God chose Rahab, a person who had a terrible reputation, to be His servant. Rahab took a leap of faith, in a God she had heard wonderful things about, deciding that this God was worth risking her life for.

While the Bible does not tell us Rahab’s emotions, this short film, encourages us to think about what she might have felt and thought.

This short film ends with a hint of something the Bible confirms in black and white. The events of Rahab are connected to the arrival of the Messiah - Jesus Christ, of whom we can all be saved through, by faith.
